Algorithm can turn Photos into Van Gogh

Who knew that you could capture some Van Gogh in any simple photo?

German researchers take imitation to the next level as they introduce an algorithm that can turn photos into the style of any famous artist. Through the use of what is called a convolutional neural network, which was used to mimic the style of famous artists such as Van Gogh, Picasso, and Edvard Munch by filtering the style of the original art through several computational units until the style agrees with the given image. The process however requires balanced style and content as too much of one will affect the quality of the other. The process currently takes an hour to complete but the research team expects it to lessen as they refine the procedure.
